The Opportunity
At VertApp, we aren't just calling OpenAI APIs and wrapping them in a thin UI. We are architecting robust, end-to-end autonomous agent systems that actually do the heavy lifting for our enterprise clients.
We are looking for a Senior Agentic AI Engineer who is obsessed with the mechanics of LLMs, tool orchestration, memory management, and reasoning loops. If you've spent your weekends building custom LangChain or LlamaIndex workflows, hacking together multi-agent systems, or optimizing RAG pipelines to actually retrieve correct context—you're exactly who we want.
What You'll Do
- Design Autonomous Workflows: Build multi-agent systems that can plan, reason, and execute complex multi-step tasks across integrated enterprise APIs.
- Develop RAG Pipelines: Construct advanced Retrieval-Augmented Generation systems handling massive vector databases with extreme accuracy and low latency.
- Build Custom Tools: Equip our LLMs with specialized, sandboxed tools (Python execution, database querying, web scraping) so they can interact safely with the real world.
- Prompt Engineering & Fine-Tuning: Rigorously evaluate and optimize prompts, and orchestrate fine-tuning workflows for open-source models (Llama, Mistral) when necessary.
- Collaborate: Work directly with our frontend engineers to wire up streaming capabilities, ensuring our agent thought-processes are rendered elegantly in real-time to the end user.
Who You Are
- You have 4+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 1-2 years intensely focused on Applied AI, LLMs, or Machine Learning.
- You write incredibly clean, strongly-typed Python and/or TypeScript.
- You understand the underlying concepts of vector embeddings, semantic search, and the limitations (hallucinations, context window sizing) of modern foundational models.
- You've deployed AI applications to production and understand how to manage latency, streaming, and error handling when models go off the rails.
- You are a relentless problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, highly autonomous environment.
